# Straight Out of Big Brother 17 House, Rousso Joins Zen Poker Mentoring Nov.7 Session

Published 2026-08-19

From November 7-8, just before the 2015 World Series of Poker November Nine – which will award the eventual winner $7,680,021 – plays out at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Zen Poker Mentoring will be hosting a live instruction coaching session.

Students will be immersed in the program, which will be lead by **Vanessa Rousso** on November 7, and by Super High Roller Bowl champ and two-bracelet winner **Brian Rast** on November 8th. Rousso is fresh off a third-place finish on CBS’s summer hit Big Brother 17. While **Rousso** ultimately missed out on the $500,000 top prize, fans of the show agreed she was one the game’s best-ever, using her poker skills – such as **game theory and reading ability** – to control the game.

**Rousso** will be giving a full day of intense instruction on the subject of **“Advanced Game Theory of Poker,”**which will be comprised of short lecture followed by hand labs, which is when the pro gets in the box and deals the cards while providing analysis on students’ play preflop, then on the flop turn and river. Without a doubt, the hand labs have been the most popular part of past **Zen Poker Mentoring** seminars.

**Rousso** will also field a Q&A on **“Advanced Game Theory,”** and will also field any other questions students may have, including those involving her time on **Big Brother 17**. What’s more, **Rousso** will be joined by four-time bracelet **Jeff Madsen**, who actually captured his latest piece of gold earlier this summer.

Now 30 years old**, Madsen** remains the third-youngest gold bracelet winner in history, a feat he accomplished in 2006 when he won Event #22 $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $660,948. He was just 21 years and five days old at the time. Amazingly, Madsen won a second bracelet less than a week later when he took down Event #30 $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max for $643,381. A slew of other cashes helped Madsen etch his name in history by becoming the 2006 WSOP Player of the Year.

“It’s all about maturity, it affects how you play the game,” **Madsen** said after winning his fourth bracelet. “I’ve always tended to be a streaky player, but as I get older I am trying to be more consistent.

” In addition to discussing game theory, nutrition tips (lunch will be provided), and hosting hand labs, hypnotherapist **Elliot Roe** and poker psychologist will join **Vanessa & Jeff** to help improve your mental game.
